The Bridal Season

by Emily Metzger

Bridal season is upon us here in the United States. June is one of the most popular months for holy matrimony. Because the weather is usually cooperative, there are no major holidays to work around, and families are getting ready for summer shenanigans, June is a top pick for brides and grooms nationwide.

While I have yet to experience the excitement and overwhelm of planning my dream wedding, I can visualize all the beautiful, beaming brides, the scent of fresh flowers, the tears of a proud groom, and the aroma of food galore. The unification of two hearts, minds, and lives. The moment when the timeless meaning of covenant becomes the reality for two people who will love and serve each other while serving God. The mixture of joy and grief of the parents of the bride and groom, as they watch their children embark on this journey called life without them.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF BRIDE

Although in the natural, I am very much a single woman in the spirit, I am that blushing bride. And if you are a part of the Body of Christ, so are you.

You see, we are alive for such a time as this. Our Bridegroom will be coming for us soon. We will be caught up with Him and taken to the Marriage Supper of The Lamb.

One doesn’t have to be prophetic to know the hour we are in. Discernment tells us that the Bridegroom is almost done preparing for us, and when He is done, we will be going home. This time of transition is where the Body of Christ becomes the Bride of Christ. Many have said they feel a shifting in the Spirit that has come with increased conviction for repentance, purity, and Holiness. This is the season where we are to make sure we have our own oil, and are prepared for the Bridegroom.

PREPARING FOR THE BRIDEGROOM

We must have pure hearts, clear motives, clean hands, and a raging love for God that pours out of us, especially on those whom we may not necessarily want to show love to. We must be the beacon of light, the cup of unconditional love, and the flask of unconventional forgiveness and mercy.

If you have been feeling a pull in the Spirit to spend more time with Father, to bend your knee more, and to worship more, this is why. He is purifying the Body so that we can become the Bride. Resist the temptation to refuse the process of purification. Purification is required to be the Bride of the King.

If you have felt like you are going through the refining fire all over again, or that you have been feeling convicted over the smallest of things, this is why. Refining never feels good, but the result is beautiful. Resist the temptation to run from the refining; only the refined become pure vessels.

If your flesh feels like you are being nitpicked by the Spirit, resist the urge to do things halfway. Do all things unto the Lord and reap the benefits.

It’s our season, Body of Christ. Rise up. Mature. Spread the Gospel. Keep your oil full.

My new book will be coming out by this fall, and it will help prepare the Body to be the Bride. I hope you enjoyed this small snippet of what is on my heart for the Body of Christ.
